Freedom

I don’t think I get it. In Canada we believe in freedom of expression; also freedom of religion; also freedom and equality for women: this is the Canadian way. But we demand that women who want to wear a veil to our citizenship ceremony must remove because it is offensive to Canadians. Also to Harper Neo Cons. Is this not Harper being wildly inconsistent? I do think Justin Trudeau is right in finding a connection between these contrary positions and the slippery slope to scapegoatism and the genocide we lived through during the first world war. Who said it could not happen here?
